Company Name: Commonwealth Refining Company Ltd. (CRC)
Company Location: 304 Pulaski Street, South Plainfield, NJ 07080
Website: N/A
Company Information: Was operational in 1972 until at least 1977 with a focus on refining precious metals.
The Courier-News based out of Bridgewater, New Jersey had in their January 19th 1972 edition a job posting for CRC.
A second reference to the company from the Courier-News was on November 28th 1973 in mention to an engagement of Miss Brenda D. Haug to Kenneth E. Larson Jr. where Miss Brenda D. Haug is employed.
In 1975, “The Silver Institute” published the “Silver Refiners of the World and their Identifying Ingot Marks” which references CRC and provides information about the refinery.
The last found reference of CRC is in the “Toxic Substances Information for a Selected Geographic Area: a Summary of EPA Information on Union and Middlesex Counties, New Jersey” made by the National Enforcement Investigations Center out of Denver, Colorado and was published in January 1977. The refinery was designated with SIC 3339 with the description “Refining of precious metals”.
Afterwards, my belief is that they were merged or bought by Spiral Metals which has proven activity at the same address from 1977 to 1980 in the “Compliance Status of Major Air Pollution Facilities” reports by the EPA.
Other companies that have had the same address are the following: Eco Tech Machinery Cm, Non Ferrous Recycling Co., National Waste Clean (Current)
SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) 3339 is defined by NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) for Primary Smelting and Refining of Nonferrous Metals, Except Copper and Aluminum.
